The performance of electric vehicles is affected by the thermal conditions. This paper studies the influence of ambient temperature on the charging time of electric vehicles (EVs) during slow charging. The accuracy of the studied system model is validated using experimental data from a Nissan Leaf charging session. Energetic Macroscopic Representation (EMR) formalism is used to organize the interconnections of the battery electro-thermal model with a charger system. Simulation results indicate that the charging time of the battery rises to 18 hours at -23°C and 9 hours at -20°C, compared to 7.5 hours at the standard operating temperatures. |
