Il est tr\u00e8s couteux de traiter des&nbsp; escarres \u00e0 des stades avanc\u00e9s. De plus, ce sont des pathologies tr\u00e8s douloureuses, qui alt\u00e8rent&nbsp; fortement la qualit\u00e9 de vie des patients atteints et peuvent m\u00eame \u00eatre fatals \u00e0 un stade \u00e9tendu. La d\u00e9tection pr\u00e9coce de ces escarres est donc primordiale pour pallier leurs effets. L\u2019objectif de cette th\u00e8se est de d\u00e9velopper une sonde portable pour mesurer les caract\u00e9ristiques biom\u00e9caniques de la peau \u00e0 risque \u00ab in vivo \u00bb et ainsi aider \u00e0 pr\u00e9voir l\u2019apparition d\u2019escarres. Cette sonde est compos\u00e9e de deux benders pi\u00e9zo-\u00e9lectriques qui vont \u00e9tendre la surface de la peau de mani\u00e8re contr\u00f4l\u00e9e. La mesure simultan\u00e9e de la force de r\u00e9action de la peau et de son d\u00e9placement est r\u00e9alis\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9gration de deux jauges de contrainte r\u00e9sistives. Les fonctions essentielles de la sonde, \u00e0 savoir le contr\u00f4le du d\u00e9placement et l\u2019acquisition des mesures m\u00e9caniques sont valid\u00e9es exp\u00e9rimentalement. Pour am\u00e9liorer la mesure de la force, des strat\u00e9gies de compensation de l\u2019effet d\u2019hyst\u00e9r\u00e9sis sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es. Les capacit\u00e9s de distinction de la sonde entre diff\u00e9rentes surfaces sont tout d\u2019abord test\u00e9es sur des peaux artificielles dites \u00ab fant\u00f4mes \u00bb. Ensuite, la sonde est appliqu\u00e9e pour mesurer les caract\u00e9ristiques de peaux saines \u00ab in vivo \u00bb, ceci sur diff\u00e9rentes localisations. Il est montr\u00e9 que la sonde est capable de diff\u00e9rencier ces localisations. La sensibilit\u00e9 et la fiabilit\u00e9 des param\u00e8tres mesur\u00e9s par la sonde sont analys\u00e9es en collaboration avec l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Southampton. Des premiers r\u00e9sultats montrent que la sonde est capable de d\u00e9tecter des dommages de la peau dues \u00e0 des d\u00e9gradations m\u00e9caniques (arrachage d\u2019un ruban adh\u00e9sif par exemple).<br \/>\nCette recherche peut donc contribuer \u00e0 la d\u00e9tection pr\u00e9coce d\u2019escarres mais \u00e9galement fournir des donn\u00e9es sur la m\u00e9canique de la peau pour renseigner le d\u00e9veloppement de mod\u00e8les.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #f07e1c;\">Mots cl\u00e9s&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>transducteurs pi\u00e9zo\u00e9lectriques, biom\u00e9canique de la peau, escarre, diagnostic non invasif<\/p>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #f07e1c;\">Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Pressure ulcers are localized damage to the skin and\/or underlying tissue. It\u2019s expensive to treat pressure ulcers at advanced stages. Moreover, they lower the patient&rsquo;s quality of life, being painful and life-threatening. Early detection is one of the solutions to prevent pressure ulcers. The objective of this thesis is to develop a handheld probe to measure skin biomechanics in vivo and to aid in the early diagnosis of skin at risk. This probe is composed of two piezoelectric bending actuators that stretch the skin surface and control the tip displacement. Simultaneous force and displacement sensing is achieved by integrating two pairs of resistive strain gauge sensors. The basic functions of the probe, simultaneous sensing and displacement control, are experimentally validated. Hysteresis compensation strategies are presented to improve force sensing. The discrimination capability of the probe is first justified with tests on phantom skins. Then, we apply this probe to measure skin properties in vivo. The anatomical-site-related differences are characterized by the probe. The reliability and sensitivity of the parameters derived from the probe are studied in a collaboration with the University of Southampton. Preliminary results show that the probe can detect skin damage caused by mechanical insult (tape strapping) with a reduced dynamic modulus.
