{"id":3398,"date":"2015-04-06T12:17:42","date_gmt":"2015-04-06T11:17:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/l2ep.univ-lille.fr\/?page_id=3398"},"modified":"2021-01-19T09:40:39","modified_gmt":"2021-01-19T08:40:39","slug":"developpements-scientifiques","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/l2ep.univ-lille.fr\/en\/groupes-de-recherche\/equipe-omn\/developpements-scientifiques\/","title":{"rendered":"Scientific developments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">The research work carried out by the Numerical Tools and Methods team revolves around two themes.<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">The first theme deals with the numerical resolution of Maxwell&rsquo;s equations in a quasi-static regime and the development of a model of ferromagnetic materials to be implanted in the calculation codes for electromagnetic fields. The second theme deals with the design by optimisation of complex systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"en-GB\"><strong><span style=\"color: #f07e1c;\"><\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium; color: #f07e1c;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #f07e1c;\">Development of numerical methods<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">The numerical methods studied are quite specific in the national and international community, e.g.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"en-GB\">The quantification of uncertainties that involves studying the influence of the variability of the input data (constitutive equations of materials or the geometry) of a numerical model on the quantities of interest. This makes it possible, for example, to assess the impact of manufacturing processes on the performance of an electrical machine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-GB\">The estimation of numerical errors that involves working out the errors introduced by the spatial and temporal discretisation on the solution given by the numerical model.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-GB\">The reduction of models where techniques (POD, PGD, etc.) are applied to reduce the number of unknowns of the numerical model with the aim of not only reducing computation times but also taking into account a large number of parameters simultaneously. Since 2008, this code has been jointly developed with EdF R&amp;D as part of the LAMEL joint laboratory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">The results of the research on numerical methods are capitalised in code_Camel, which makes it a tool with unique features, such as the quantification of uncertainties, the estimation of errors, the projection of solutions, etc. This code changes in the <\/span><strong><a class=\"western\" href=\"http:\/\/www.salome-platform.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Salome<\/span><\/a><\/strong><span lang=\"en-GB\"> free environment and naturally makes it possible to carry out \u00ab\u00a0multiphysics\u00a0\u00bb studies using solution projection tools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">The <\/span><em><a class=\"western\" href=\"http:\/\/code-carmel.univ-lille1.fr\/\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">code_Carmel<\/span><\/a><\/em><span lang=\"en-GB\"> code is also used as an investigative tool in the context of various theses or studies. Training courses can be set up for industrialists and academics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><strong><span style=\"color: #f07e1c;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium; color: #f07e1c;\">Modelling and characterisation of ferromagnetic materials<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">Work using significant experimental characterisation means (Epstein square, Single Sheet Tester, thermal enclosure, etc.) to develop loss calculation models in soft and hard ferromagnetic materials, are inserted in <\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><u><a class=\"western\" href=\"http:\/\/code-carmel.univ-lille1.fr\/\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><span style=\"color: #f07e1c;\">code_Carmel<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/l2ep.univ-lille.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/densit\u00e9-de-perte-fer.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2579\" src=\"https:\/\/l2ep.univ-lille.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/densit\u00e9-de-perte-fer-300x224.png\" alt=\"equipe mod\u00e9lisation\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/l2ep.univ-lille.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/densit\u00e9-de-perte-fer-300x224.png 300w, https:\/\/l2ep.univ-lille.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/densit\u00e9-de-perte-fer.png 980w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span lang=\"en-GB\">Density of iron losses (W\/m3) in a three-phase transformer (1\/4 of the transformer)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">These experimental means are supplemented by mock-ups of specific measurements in order to study the variability of the electrical and magnetic properties following the impact of the manufacturing processes.
